Musikgudstjeneste med Witte / Kjær Duo (DK)

Julie Kjær (as) Olga Witte (org)
Founded in 2004, the Witte / Kjær duo features Julie Kjær on alto saxophone and flute and Olga Witte on church organ. Right from the start, the two experimented with sounds in church settings and the exciting relationship between composition and improvisation. After a break, during which Julie Kjær lived and became acquainted with the improvisation scene in London, the two are reunited again. For this special music service, Olga Witte has composed pieces to go with the lyrics, which they will improvise around.
Julie Kjær's (www.juliekjaer.com) raw, edgy, and thoughtful playing and “dark, otherworldly imagery” (Jazzwise) have been noticed in the European jazz and new music scene, moving between composition and improvised music. Experimenting with extended techniques, sound, and rhythm, she pushes her instruments to the limit.
Olga Witte (www.olgawitte.dk) is the organist of the Langenæ Church, but she is much more. She combines her different positions as a composer, ethnomusicologist, jazz pianist, and church organist and has "created her very own and deeply original musical language" (Jazznyt) and her sound can be heard on her critically acclaimed album Olga Witte Organ Trio No 1 + 2.
