Musikgudstjeneste med Witte / Madsen / Eiler (DK)

10:00

Olga Witte (p) Jens Mikkel Madsen (b) Thomas Eiler (d)

Olga Witte, the permanent organist at Langenæs Church, is also a jazz pianist and composer. For this music service, she has invited two raw and creative musicians, Jens Mikkel Madsen on bass and Thomas Eiler on drums. The three musicians are well-known names on the Danish jazz scene and will play both hymns and Olga Witte's modern-sounding compositions for this service.

Olga Witte is a church organist, jazz pianist, ethnomusicologist, and trained composer from the Royal Academy of Music in Jutland. She has been awarded Denmark's oldest jazz award, Gaffelprisen 2023, with the reasoning: “Olga's commitment, drive, and curiosity have taken both her and jazz far and wide. She is one of today's musicians and arrangers who move jazz forward."

Jens Mikkel Madsen is a bassist trained as a soloist at the Royal Academy of Music in Jutland. He plays double and electric bass in many groups covering different genres. He is especially known for his band I Think You're Awesome.

Thomas Eiler is a soloist-trained drummer from the Royal Academy of Music. He is a key musician on the avant-garde and jazz scene and plays in the bands SVIN, Slowburn, and Dancer. The former is part of the Danish Arts Foundation's “The Young Artistic Elite”.
