Aarhus-based Caktus plays with Oslo Jazzkomponisters Orkester
For more than 7 years, saxophonist and composer Maria Dybbroe has composed for and led the critically acclaimed Aarhus band Caktus. During Aarhus Jazz Festival, Caktus will be playing in Denmark for the first time in a new mega-expanded line-up together with Oslo Jazzkomponisters Orkester.
There will be both brand new music for this constellation as well as new arrangements of Caktus songs from the albums 'Flimrende' and 'Under Solen'. The concert will be sensuous, grandiose, and fragile within the musical universe of Caktus, exploding with Ojkos' energy and colorful sounds. The music is expansive, yet dynamic and diverse, exploring instrumentation and the acoustic physicality of the instruments.
In a pan-Scandinavian constellation, the experience of standing with one foot in two countries and gaining a new Nordic identity unfolds. The starting point for the compositions is Maria's experiences from the first two years in a new country after moving from Denmark to Oslo. The music is inspired by new people, smells, places, sounds, and moods. In a pan-Scandinavian constellation, the experience of standing with one foot in two countries and gaining a new Nordic identity unfolds.
