Street Parade and Music in the Streets
The opening of the 35th edition of Aarhus Jazz Festival will be marked with jazzy sounds throughout the town as the festive Aarhus Jazz Festival Brass Band walks its traditional street parade route through the city center.
The band consists of a younger group of musicians who are enthusiastic about old New Orleans jazz. Enthusiastic and full of musical energy, they will spread joyful tones wherever they go - and the audience is very welcome to join them on the tour.
The repertoire consists of New Orleans classics such as Funky Liza, Bourbon Street Parade, When My Dreamboat Comes Home, and many more. So come and enjoy the sound of jazz fill the streets of Aarhus.
Here is the route
The Street Parade starts at 11 am at Musikhuset Aarhus, goes across Rådhuspladsen and along Sønder Allé, continues down Strøget, turns into Skt. Clemens Stræde, and heads to Lille Torv. Then it goes via Rosensgade, Volden, and Graven and ends at Hipsterhøjen at around noon.
Take a break here until 12.30 pm, when the tour resumes and goes from Graven along Klostergade to Grønnegade before weaving back and forth along Vestergade. Then to Lille Torv across Immervad, Frederiksbroen, and up Frederiksgade past Telefontorvet to Strøget, along Sønder Allé and Rådhuspladsen, before ending back at Musikhuset Aarhus around 1.30 pm.

NB: This year there is a children's / family concert with 'Ækle Jazzede Eventyr' in Musikhuset Aarhus at 10 am - immediately before the street parade. It is possible to go directly from this concert and follow the street parade.
