A Jazz and Country Music Hybrid with Ned Ferm
Ned Ferm (born 1982) is an American musician, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. He is best known for his saxophone work in jazz, roots, rock, pop, and improvised music. He made Copenhagen his home in 2001 and became the first American to be accepted into the prestigious Rhythmic Music Conservatory, where he has earned three different degrees.
Ferm is a vital and unique musical figure who has appeared on more than 50 recordings. His significant contributions to both American and European saxophone traditions have earned international acclaim from audiences and musical colleagues alike. His first solo album (Spent All The Money from 2014 on STUNT Records), on which he played saxophone and sang his unique hybrid of jazz and country music, was met with critical acclaim.
Ferm's career has included live and studio collaborations with a wide range of artists across both generations and genres, including Roswell Rudd, Tyshawn Sorey, Yusef Lateef, Airto Moriera, Jakob Bro, Steve Swell, Mark Guiliana, Billy Taylor, and Chris Speed
