Hein Westgaard Blurs the Lines of Composed and Improvised Music

The Hein Westgaard Trio plays its brand of experimental music. The trio is inspired by jazz and free improvisation, as well as country, rock, folk, and classical music. The trio manages to combine these elements in a unique format that blurs the line between composed and improvised music.

They released their debut album First as Farce in 2023 to rave reviews - it was featured on New York City Jazz Records BEST OF 2023 list as one of the top five debut albums of the year. It was followed by a tour of Northern Europe with 17 concerts in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Poland, and the Faroe Islands.
