For this year's Aarhus Jazz Festival, drummer Jens Emil Jensen has gathered some fantastic musicians to host the festival's official jazz jam at HeadQuarters. In addition to the official jam hosts, there will be fantastic guest musicians to open each jam, followed by an open jazz jam until 2 am, when all jazz cats are welcome to jam on stage!
Danish and international musicians from near and far will come together and form new and exciting constellations on stage – so grab your instrument and join the musical celebration! The stage is equipped with a piano, drum kit, guitar and bass amplifiers, and microphones. You can look forward to late nights where you can experience Aarhus' vibrant jazz scene unfold as local young jazz talents and established international profiles come together in musical encounters where anything can happen!

For this jam, the amazing bassist Samuel Kiel, along with Jens Emil Jensen behind the drums, host surprise guests to kick off the jam!
Samuel Kiel is a young Danish double bassist living in Amsterdam. Here he unfolds as a bandleader, composer, and entrepreneur. He is best known for his 8-piece band Sonic Choir of Love, which is due to release an album in spring 2025. In addition, the band has won a Keep an Eye foundation award that supports new talent on the Dutch jazz scene. He is also the creator of the crossover group Meetings. With a string quartet and piano trio, they explore the borderland between new classical music and improvisation. He is also a sideman in the project Jacob Djursaa's Drømmesyn, which in 2025 was nominated for a DMA jazz award for New Jazz Name of the Year, Giedre / Valente Quintet, which in spring 2024 won 1st prize in the Grachten Festival band competition, and the Korean pianist Minyoung Oh band - Quartet +1: Greetings.
