PHILIP AKROFI QUARTET

Philip Akrofi is one of the most exciting - and still underground - musicians on the Danish jazz scene.

With his quartet, he unfolds his own compositions with technical skill and artistic depth, and he is now ready with a debut concert.

Inspired by Charles Mingus and others, Akrofi draws on both the great heroes of jazz history and contemporary sounds to present a personal and contemporary take on what jazz can sound like today.

His music is both heartfelt and explosive - melodic and uncompromising - and testifies to a great artist in the making with something to say.

Akrofi has previously performed with the likes of Josephin Bovién, Jeremy Troy, and Mark Hurell (UK), Gustav Hagelskjær, and others, and is known for his strong presence and ensemble.

His legendary performance and indispensable contribution to Nebula 2021 are clearly remembered by those who were there.

The debut concert will be a rare opportunity to experience his musical vision in full bloom.
