When you hear Estonian jazz singer and composer Karmen Rõivassepp for the first time, you realize that she has something special. More and more people are discovering her obvious talent.

Since moving to Denmark in 2012, Karmen Rõivassepp has built a rapidly growing following in the Aarhus jazz scene. She has also made a name for herself outside East Jutland, performing with the DR Big Band and the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, among others.

Rõivassepp is characterized by her almost instrumental way of singing, a pure sound, and her always playful nature.

Together with the dazzling young musicians Simon Gorm Eskildsen (p), Adrian Christensen (b) and Daniel Sommer (drm), she has formed a quartet that interprets Rõivassepp's original music with occasional glimpses into the vast world of jazz standards.

The band moves in a universe of modern jazz, inviting the listener into a world of sincere joy, serenity, melancholy, and hidden pain through captivating melodies and honest storytelling.

The bandleader's vocals are striking in their purity, and her range and pitch are impressive. And she's harmonically inventive as she embellishes melodies with intricate, scat-sung phrases[...]
-Thomas Rees, Downbeat Magazine (2018)

Rõivassepp seems to belong to the category of singers who view the voice as an instrument in its own right. Her treatment of each note is exquisite, and she presents herself convincingly with the promise of more to come.
