Original jazz with a wide artistic reach

Under the title Jazz in Generations, a fruitful musical meeting between Aarhus and Berlin awaits. Experience the excellent quality and great artistic range that exists right now across generations on the Aarhus jazz scene.

In addition to being the first alto saxophone in Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, Kati Brien is one of the big names on the Berlin jazz scene. Her energetic and lyrical saxophone playing – which can be heard in Kati Brien's Dream Band - sounds both traditional and futuristic.

Dan Hjorth is a pianist with a great love for improvisation, spirituality, and harmonics. His spiritual and beautiful piano playing is expressed in the Dan Hjorth Trio with Jens Mikkel Madsen and Thomas Eiler.

The trio's foundation is laid by bassist Torben Bjørnskov, who with deep roots in the melodic Nordic sound has had extensive collaborations with American and English musicians. Collaborations that have led him to big international stages such as North Sea Jazz in The Hague and Royal Festival Hall in London.

For this concert, the trio will be performing original compositions written for this particular constellation.
