Ellington, Hendrix, and Balder with a shot of free jazz

Brass Around has been around jazz since they were last on the program, and will by all accounts break the sound barrier during this year's jazz festival.

The sextet plays compositions and arrangements by Jens Balder written for this ensemble: two trumpets, two trombones, tuba, and drum kits - and the repertoire spans compositions by Duke Ellington, Jimi Hendrix, and Jens Balder with bits of free jazz.

The band members come from extremely versatile musical backgrounds ranging from modern and avant-garde jazz across distant skies (afro, tango, flamenco, salsa, New Orleans) to improvised music such as free jazz and (impro)kalas.
