The Peak of Danish Jazz Avant-Garde
Jungle Money represents the closest thing to a Danish national jazz ensemble. Both Jan Kaspersen and Peter Friis Nielsen have been awarded the Art Foundation's lifetime honorary gift.
Jan Kaspersen is cut in the stone of jazz. From his continuous, dancing dialogues with Ellington and Monk over the past 10 years, he has developed a language that transcends tradition and creates surprising new music.
Peter Friis Nielsen occupies a special status among Danish jazz's many outstanding bassists. His original approach to bass playing has earned him the attention of the international elite of avant-garde jazz – from Brötzmann to Evan Parker.
Claus Bøje has been a pillar in three of the most significant and critically acclaimed groups in the history of Danish avant-garde jazz: Coronarias Dans, Avantis, and Clinch.
