Taking Cues from The Beatles

The music of The Beatles is already immortalized alongside the music that flowed from Bach, Mozart, and Miles Davis.

At this wonderful afternoon concert, Peter Vuust and Hans Esbjerg will demonstrate how the quartet's music can be a starting point for improvisation, as the music has all the melodic qualities that can form a perfect starting point for jamming.

Over the years, Hans Esbjerg has performed with the likes of KIüver's Big Band, Butch Lacy, Jens Winther, Thomas Fryland, and Roy Willams, and has released the album pop'n'jazz as a solo artist. He also makes up Den Danske Salmeduo with saxophonist Christian Vuust, which reinterprets Danish hymns with inspiration from American jazz improvisation. Hans Esbjerg's piano playing is highly lyrical and melodious.

Peter Vuust is a professor at Aarhus University and the Royal Academy of Music, head of the Center for Music in the Brain, and one of Denmark's most popular sidemen. He has been featured on more than 100 albums and with international jazz stars such as Tim Hagans, Mal Waldron, Ted Curson, Jukkis Uotila, and many more. He is known for his groovy and responsive backing and extremely melodic soloing. April 2022 saw the release of Peter's seventh album Further To Fly, released with the family band 5 x Vuust. Peter has also been nominated for a DMA for the CD September Song.
