In the Crossroads of Blues and Jazz

Uffe Steen and Peter Vuust belong to the absolute Danish jazz elite and will be performing together with the talented drummer Mikkel Vuust at Tir na nÓg.

They will play a number of melodic and well-swinging songs, where the music moves at the crossroads of blues and jazz. The tempo ranges from fast and furious to more quiet and beautiful ballads.

Uffe Steen is one of the best guitarists in Denmark. He is known for his unique technique, which is created by turning the guitar upside down. Throughout his long career, he has played with a large number of renowned jazz and blues acts. He is known for his sensitive and captivating playing and has achieved international recognition with his CDs with, among others, Adam Nussbaum on drums. 

Peter Vuust is a professor at Aarhus University and the Royal Academy of Music and head of the Center for Music in the Brain. He has played on more than 100 records and with international jazz stars such as Tim Hagans, Mal Waldron, Ted Curson, and Jukkis Uotila. He is known for his groovy and responsive backing and extremely melodic soloing, and as a composer and bassist he has released seven albums, most recently the CD Further to Fly (2022) with the family band 5xVuust. Peter has also been nominated for a DMA for the CD September Song.

Mikkel Vuust is one of the country's most talented young drummers. Despite his young age, he has played with names such as Jakob Fisher, Uffe Steen, Henrik Gunde, and Sinne Eeg. He is currently studying at the Manhattan School of Music in New York and has just released the album Further To Fly with 5 x Vuust.
