Jazz from the Top of the City Hall Tower
During Aarhus Jazz Festival, German carillonneur Joanna Stroz will give a carillon concert from Aarhus City Hall. The concert was originally announced with carillon player Gunther Strothmann, who has had to cancel.
The music is a mix of jazz favorites and classical works for the carillon. The concert can be enjoyed on the lawn in Rådhusparken and Musikhusparken, where the KISSA container provides a cozy setting in front of Musikhuset.
The varied program will, among other things, consist of jazz classics such as Summertime and Lullaby of Birdland, classical works for carillon as well as tunes from popular music by The Doors and David Bowie.
Joanna Stroz is a Polish-born percussionist, carillon player and singer, educated at the Music Conservatory in Krakow in 2003, the soloist class at the Odense Music Conservatory in 2008 and Klokkenist Skolen in Løgumkloster in Denmark in 2015.
She has toured all over the world and is known for crossing the boundaries between different musical genres and she continues to do so in her new compositions and improvisations.
