Young jazz – emotional, melancholic, and sophisticated

Karmen Rõivassepp Quartet is a prominent and young jazz quartet from Aarhus. Since their debut in 2018, they have created a large and affectionate audience both in their hometown and in the rest of the country.

Now, it's Europe's turn to experience the quartet, which was nominated for a Danish Music Award in 2018 in the category New Danish Jazz Name of the Year for their debut album Dance of Sounds. But the journey starts at home in Musikhuset Aarhus, where they will perform during the jazz festival.

The quartet is in constant development and musical exploration, gradually moving from their common starting point in jazz tradition to a modern jazz expression that is both reflective, emotional, and melancholic. The emphasis is on thoroughly composed material combined with musical freedom and with room for improvisations.

Expect astonishingly clean vocals and a fantastic musical ensemble intertwined with sophisticated melodies and harmonies.
