Steamy organ jazz with a new trio
Martin Rüssell Trio is a newly formed Hammond trio with Martin Rüssell Kaufmann on organ. He is joined by John Riddell on drums and Kristoffer Verdoner on guitar. The repertoire consists of steamy jazz blues songs, swinging jazz standards, and a few ballads.
Martin Rüssell Kaufmann is originally from Switzerland, but has been based in Aarhus since 1992. For more than 25 years, the Hammond B3 organ has been his main instrument, and he has played and toured as a sideman with many different bands in various genres, from singer-songwriter to blues, funk, fusion-jazz, gospel, reggae, and rock. He has also been featured on various album recordings as an organist and pianist.
Martin Rüssell Kaufmann's musical career began as a classical piano player at the age of six. During his teens, his passion for American music and electric keyboard instruments took over.
Kristoffer Gori Verdoner is a guitarist and composer who has performed both as frontman and sideman in everything from jazz, blues, pop, rock, RnB, hip hop, as well as various big band projects and musicals. Despite being based in Denmark, he has also played and toured in the United States, Canada, Germany, England, Poland, Spain, and Egypt. Kristoffer completed his master's degree from the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus/Aalborg in 2015. Since then, he has released a debut album and will record his second release in June 2021.
John Riddell is a drummer, composer, arranger, and conductor based in Aarhus, where he leads and conducts the Danish Youth Jazz Orchestra, which is a talent development base for young jazz musicians. He trained at the Royal Academy of Music, specializing in big band music. Through his work with various big bands and orchestras, he has played with numerous Danish and international soloists.
