Original music that pushes boundaries

Drummer Lasse Schjerning has gathered some of the best domestic and international musicians in his new quartet. All members are unique instrumentalists and composers in their own way, and the compositions are specifically written as tributes to their sound.

Richard, Ned, and Anders have always been some of my favorite musicians and composers in the world, and they have shaped me to that extent – musically and compositionally. Writing music with them in mind is one of the most motivating and inspiring things, and a constant learning process, says Lasse Schjerning.

Anders AC Christensen and Ned Ferm are two well-known names on the European jazz scene. They have played together in many different and legendary constellations, and their symbiotic ensemble has captivated audiences for many years.

Despite his young age, Brooklyn-based pianist Richard Sears has already released five critically acclaimed albums and shared the stage with the likes of Billy Hart, The Muhal Richard Abrams Orchestra, Ravi Coltrane, Ralph Alessi, Eric Revis, Andrew Cyrille, and Joshua Redman.

Curiosity and a high level of ambition have always driven drummer Lasse Schjerning since he grabbed his sticks at a young age. That is precisely why he has assembled this group.

There is something extremely beautiful in the synergy that I know can be created between these musicians. I will do my utmost to write music for these gentlemen that pushes boundaries and touches the audience, he says.
