Improvised instrumental music that crosses boundaries
Mythic Sunship is a Danish quartet based in Copenhagen. The group found its final form in 2015 with the release of the debut album Ouroboros on the internationally acclaimed Danish label El Paraiso. Since then, there have been three more studio albums and a live record at the Odense record company.
Mythic Sunship primarily plays improvised, boundary-crossing instrumental music based on a wide range of musical inspirations from heavy rock to ambient, kraut, free jazz, and more.
The quartet, which is occasionally expanded by saxophonist Søren Skov, is particularly known for its always energetic and intense approach, which has made the group a coveted live name both at home and abroad. That energy has taken Mythic Sunship far and wide on European stages with highlights such as three concerts at the Dutch cult festival Roadburn and two concerts at Le Guess Who ?, also in the Netherlands. In addition, there have been a host of club concerts and smaller festival performances.
As of 2021, Mythic Sunship has a new record deal with American Tee Pee Records, material for three studio albums recorded in the legendary RMV Studio in Stockholm, and the prospect of another concert series at the top of the European festival scene - if the pandemic allows.
