Installational concert experience

Sprængrod, which can be experienced as a sound and light installation on and off Atlas during the jazz festival, will this afternoon unfold as an installation concert experience with singer Karmen Rõivassepp, double bassist Frederik Sakham, and violinist Anna Jalving.

A winding auditory journey through organic sounds and intimate melodies composed by Alex Mørch with added improvisational elements by the formidable, participating musicians.

Karmen Rõivassepp's present and powerful voice will carry the work's melodic narrative through its evocative and creaking roots.

Karmen Rõivassepp is a critically acclaimed Estonian singer with musical roots in both jazz and classical who is based in Aarhus. In 2018, she received Aarhus Jazz Festival's Talent Award and has performed with DR Big Band, Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, Karmen Röivassepp Quartet, and several other constellations.

Throughout his musical life, Frederik Sakham has played in a wide range of different styles, genres, and formats. He has studied jazz, classical music, composition, and improvisation in Aarhus (RAMA) and Paris (CNSMDP). In addition to a large number of projects, he is active in Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, Bagland, and Erhværv.

Anna Jalving is also solidly grounded in a wide musical range. She has performed new works by a large number of prominent contemporary composers at a host of international festivals. She has studied classical violin and contemporary music in Aarhus (RAMA), Vancouver (VAM), and Belgium (ManaMa), and has played the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Aarhus Sinfonietta, SCENATET, and many others.

Alex Mørch is an electronic composer and artist and works with installation art that focuses on the fusion between man and machine. Traditional instruments and performers are often coupled with wobbly, mechanical installations and electronic sound devices, and the theme revolves around the eternal, fundamental questions of life. Alex Mørch has had his work featured at the National Gallery of Denmark, ARoS Aarhus Art Musem, the National Museum of Poland, and many more.
