Street Parade and live music

The opening day of the 33rd edition of Aarhus Jazz Festival will be celebrated with jazzy tunes in the city streets as the festive Aarhus Jazz Festival Brass Band walks the Street Parade.

The repertoire consists of New Orleans classics such as Funky Liza, Bourbon Street Parade, When My Dreamboat Comes Home, and many more.

In recent years, a new generation of New Orleans fan musicians has emerged in Aarhus. A group of these – young and old musicians, and those who have not decided what they are yet, but love New Orleans music and its syncopated rhythms – make up a Street Parade led by trumpeter Scott Westh.

The instrumentation is the classic arrangement with two trumpets, two trumpets, a sousaphone, and a battery consisting of small and large drums.

Here is the route
The Street Parade starts at Dokk1 and continues along the river to Immervad, up through Frederiksgade, past Rådhuspladsen and Ridehuset to Musikhuset Aarhus. After a well-deserved break, the musicians start up again at the entrance to Atlas and continue to Mølleparken, Møllegade, and to the right along Vestergade to Lille Torv and Store Torv to finally play a few songs on Bispetorvet.

You can see the route here.
