Ambitious and award-winning youth choir

Aarhus U is a mixed choir consisting of 40 ambitious choir singers aged 15 - 26 years from the Aarhus choir scene. With 40 members, the choir is the largest youth choir of its kind in Denmark.

At the European Choir Games in 2019, Aarhus U won in the category "Chamber choirs and Vocal Groups" as well as a gold medal at the Grand Prix of Nations. The choir has previously performed live on DR, sung for H.M. Queen Margrethe, and collaborated with acts like Tina Dickow and Aarhus Jazz Orchestra.

Since October 2017, the choir has been led by Jonas Rasmussen, who carried the torch from the choir's founders, cantor Carsten Seyer-Hansen and Birgitte Næslund Madsen.

Jonas Rasmussen is a trained choir conductor from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and the University of Cambridge in England and has extensive experience as a conductor for both professional choirs as well as high-level amateur choirs at home and abroad.
