The Blood Sweat Drum + Bass Astonishing Visual Experience feat. Soweto Kinch

Musikhuset Swings is delighted to welcome Denmark's biggest, boldest, and most playful rhythmic ensemble Blood Sweat Drum + Bass (BSD+B).

In 2021, the band celebrated its 20th anniversary. In 200, it will return in full to its urban music roots.

In a unique collaboration with the English saxophonist and rapper Soweto Kinch, BSD+B will be doing two collaborations as part of Music City Aarhus 2022.

The first concert can be experienced at Aarhus Jazz Festival this afternoon at Musikhuset Aarhus.

Soweto Kinch will perform songs from his release The Black Peril, in which he experiments with the sounds of ragtime, proto-jazz, West Indian folklore, and classical pieces by black composers from the last century - a period of significant social change.

At the same time, he explores avenues of modern dance music, including hip-hop and trap - all arranged especially for the occasion of BSD+B. In addition, Soweto Kinch is also a soloist in the band's vast back catalog, along with all the band's other fantastic soloists.

The whole concert will be complemented by an interactive visual experience by Svend Ejnar Fisker Langkjær.

Award-winning alto saxophonist and rapper Soweto Kinch is one of the most exciting and versatile young musicians in the UK jazz and hip hop scenes. He is arguably one of the few artists in either genre with a degree in Modern History from Oxford University and he has amassed an impressive list of accolades and awards on both sides of the Atlantic – including a Mercury Music Prize nomination, two UMA Awards, and a MOBO for Best Jazz Act in 2003. In October 2007, he won his second MOBO Award at The O2 Arena in London, where he was also announced as the winner of the Best Jazz Act category – a category with stiff competition from the likes of Wynton Marsalis.

Svend Ejnar Fisker Langkjer is an electronic composer and digital artist, educated at DIEM at the Academy of Music in Aarhus, who has been interested in the dynamic between AI and human creativity for several years. Lately, his work has focused on pattern recognition and autonomy: getting a computer to detect, recognize, and interact with the complex sound patterns that form the basis of our musical understanding.

Svend Ejnar Fisker Langkjær has implemented these methods in different ways in his own music. In the context of this project, he is interested in working further with the interaction between orchestra and graphical representations of pattern recognition. The final result will be a concert experience where the visual side seeks to reflect the soundscape in a new and interesting way.
