Musical playground with a close-knit duo
Over the years, Peter Vuust and Mads Bærentzen have played countless concerts together. For this reason, you can expect a tightly-knit and playful concert with a mix of standards and original compositions.
As the man behind the keys of Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, Mads Bærentzen has for many years positioned himself as one of the leading jazz pianists in Denmark. Since forming his own trio, Mads Bærentzen Trio, he has released a number of albums in collaboration with bassist Morten Ramsbøll and drummer Kristian Leth. Bærentzen released his first solo album in 2012 and a follow-up solo album Natten er så stille in 2015, which features interpretations of a number of songs by composer C. E. F. Weyse. Over the years, he has played with a number of jazz greats including Kurt Elling, Dianne Reeves, Cecilie Norby, and Chris Minh Doky.
Peter Vuust is a professor at Aarhus University and the Royal Academy of Music, director of the Center for Music in the Brain, and one of the country's most widely used side-men. He has played on more than 100 records, including with international jazz stars such as Tim Hagans, Mal Waldron, Ted Curson, and Jukkis Uotila. He is known for his groovy and responsive backing, extremely melodic solo playing, and beautiful compositions. April 2022 saw the release of Peter's seventh album Further To Fly, released with the family band 5 x Vuust. Peter has also been nominated for a DMA for the CD September Song.
