American Star Kicks off Musikhuset Swings at Musikhuset

True to tradition, we invite you to the jazz gala at Musikhuset during Aarhus Jazz Festival.

It is always a very special experience when the superb Aarhus Jazz Orchestra takes the main stage alongside international stars during the annual jazz festival. This year, Aarhus Jazz Orchestra presents the charming American crooner Curtis Stigers.

Raw and Swinging Popular Jazz

Curtis Stigers is known as both a singer and saxophonist, but perhaps most of all as the magnificent entertainer who blew up with 1991 hit Wonder Why and continues to perform both his own material and beloved favorites from the best of the popular jazz back catalog.

At this year's jazz gala, Aarhus Jazz Orchestra and Curtis Stigers will take the audience on a musical journey through Curtis Stigers' own songs with a few detours to Sinatra and American music history.

In both cases, it's going to be raw and swinging when Aarhus Jazz Orchestra rolls out the repertoire and welcomes you to an evening of crooner jazz from the very top shelf.

Joining them on stage are the 17 musicians of Aarhus Jazz Orchestra and the always charismatic conductor Nikolai Bøgelund.

Expect a magnificent and at the same time intimate evening when Stigers' smiling and narrative singing style is added to the big band's grandiose sound filling the Great Hall with a great jazz atmosphere.

Every year at the jazz festival, the Jazz Gala at Musikhuset is a unique experience. 

Curtis Stigers joins the list of big international names who have kicked off the jazz party at Musikhuset alongside Aarhus Jazz Orchestra. Previously, Eliane Elias, Caro Emerald, Melody Gardot, Jamie Cullum, and David Sanborn have all performed with Aarhus Jazz Orchestra.
