Unique Trio Collaboration

Get ready for an afternoon of jazz as Kathrine Windfeld joins Peter Vuust and Mikkel Vuust in a unique trio.

Kathrine Windfeld has had a meteoric career as a composer, arranger, and pianist. In 2020, she won the prestigious European Rising Stars Award in London. In 2022, she received the awards Ben Webster-prisen, and in 2023 the Odense Live Prisen. She has also won a Danish Music Award and the Carl Prisen Award.

Windfeld has toured most of Europe and Brazil with her music, which is described as a rare combination of power and elegance with sophisticated harmonic passages, strong grooves, and poetic ballads.

Her piano playing is characterized by a powerful expression with an edge and a sense of adventure. She is a responsive collaborator, providing solid backing and unpredictable soloing. Whether in an orchestral context or with a trio as today, she always delivers with great presence and intensity.

Peter Vuust is a professor at Aarhus University and the Royal Academy of Music and head of the Center for Music in the Brain. He has played on more than 100 records and with international jazz stars such as Tim Hagans, Mal Waldron, Ted Curson, and Jukkis Uotila. He is known for his groovy and responsive backing and extremely melodic soloing, and as a composer and bassist he has released 7 albums; most recently the CD Further to Fly (2022) with the family band 5xVuust. Peter has also been nominated for a DMA for the CD September Song.

Mikkel Vuust is one of the country's most talented young drummers. Despite his young age, he has played with names such as Jakob Fisher, Uffe Steen, Henrik Gunde, and Sinne Eeg. He is currently studying at the Manhattan School of Music in New York and has just released the album Further To Fly with 5 x Vuust.
