Young Crew Challenges the Familiar Saxophone Trio Sound

Mads Lundh & the Swing Machine is a new trio formed by young Aarhus-based tenor saxophonist Mads Lundh.

During two years at the Swedish folk high school Skurups Folkhögskola, he has cultivated his idols – modern and classical – such as Hank Mobley, Joe Henderson, Chris Potter, and Chris Cheek and now returns home to Aarhus with his musical accomplices.

The band cultivates and challenges the familiar saxophone trio sound through an eloquent repertoire of classics that follow the spirit of hard bop and arrangements with a modern touch of rhythmic and harmonic quirks.
