The Guardian (UK) describes Kathrine Windfeld's compositions as a rare combination of power and elegance: a colorful mix of sophisticated harmonic passages, physical grooves, and poetic ballads in explosive arrangements.

Kathrine Windfeld Big Band has toured in England, Germany, Sweden, and other countries, and includes 15 of the strongest young jazz profiles in Scandinavia.

Windfeld's four big band releases AIRCRAFT (2015), LATENCY (2017), ORCA (2020), and DETERMINATION (2021) have been praised by leading international media such as Downbeat (US), Le Monde (FR), and Jazzwise (UK) and have resulted in numerous awards and grants.

In 2020, she won the highly prestigious Rising Stars Jazz Award, European Edition, which led to a tour of seven leading European festivals. In 2022, Windfeld received the honorable Ben Webster Award, and in 2023 the Odense Live Main Prize. She also holds a Danish Music Award and the Carl Prisen award.

In addition to her own ensembles, Windfeld is a sought-after guest composer. She has collaborated with leading European bands such as the Frankfurt Radio Big Band (DE), UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra (FI), and the Swedish Bohuslän Big Band. She has played two tours in Brazil and performed with world-class soloists such as Mike Stern (US), Seamus Blake (CA), and Gilad Hekselman (US).
