Street Parade and Music in the Streets

The opening day of the 35th edition of the Aarhus Jazz Festival will be celebrated with jazzy notes filling the streets of the city as the festive Aarhus Jazz Festival Brass Band goes on the traditional Street Parade through the city center.

The band consists of a younger team of musicians who are enthusiastic about old New Orleans jazz. With gusto and great musical energy, they spread happy tunes wherever they go – and the audience is very welcome to join them on the tour.

The repertoire consists of New Orleans classics such as Funky Liza, Bourbon Street Parade, When My Dreamboat Comes Home, and many more. Come and experience the sound of jazz spreading through the streets of Aarhus.

Here is the route

The Street Parade starts at 11 am at Musikhuset Aarhus and heads across Rådhuspladsen and along Sønder Allé before continuing down Skt. Clemens Stræde until it hits Lille Torv. It then proceeds via Rosensgade, Volden and Graven, and ends at Hipsterhøjen at around 12 noon.

Here there will be a break until 12.30 pm when the tour resumes and goes from Graven along Klostergade to Grønnegade and winds back and forth along Vestergade. Then to Lille Torv via Immervad, Frederiksbroen, and up Frederiksgade past Telefontorvet to Strøget, along Sønder Allé and Rådhuspladsen, before ending back at Musikhuset Aarhus around 1.30 pm.
