Guitarist Pat Metheny is a true master and the only artist ever to win 20 Grammys in 10 different categories. This year, Metheny can be seen at a prelude concert for the Aarhus Jazz Festival on July 5 2023, when he takes talented, young talents under his wing and on stage in the Musikhuset.

Metheny has numerous albums and awards on his resume and a long career that really took off when he played with vibraphonist Gary Burton's quartet in the 1970s.

In 1975 he formed his first trio with bassist Jaco Pastorius and drummer Bob Moses. They recorded the debut LP Bright Size Life, which today is considered a classic in fusion music.

He has played with the greatest of his time: Toots Thielemans, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, John Scofield, Jim Hall, Billy Higgins, Ornette Coleman, Roy Haynes, Joni Mitchell and many more.

The Side-Eye project

The trust that older musicians have always shown Pat Metheny since his pure youth in Kansas City has inspired him for the Side-Eye concerts that have been received with rave reviews in New York. Here he generously brings younger talented musicians on stage, where they can develop and find themselves through the prism of the older and experienced guitarist.

He also does it for his own sake. The collaboration with the younger musicians inspires him to see new possibilities in his music and to compose completely new.

In addition to Pat Metheny (guitar), Chris Fishman (keyboard, piano) and Joe Dyson (drums) will be performing at the concert on July 5, 19.30 at Musikhuset.
