It is always a special experience when Aarhus Jazz Orchestra takes the stage in Musikhuset together with an international star. In 2026, a sublime summer evening is planned when the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra presents the world star Michel Camilo, who – together with the orchestra and his own trio – dives into his Caribbean origins and unites rich harmonies, jazz historical roots and unparalleled piano technique with the playful lightness of Latin jazz.

One of the most important jazz musicians

Michel Camilo is one of the most important jazz musicians to emerge in the last two decades. The Grammy, Emmy and multi-Latin Grammy winner combines the energy of Tito Puente with the sophisticated sound world of Bill Evans. His quartet consists of Cliff Almond on drums, Ricky Rodriguez on bass and Eliel Lazo on percussion, and together with the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra they promise an unforgettable evening with selected songs from Camilo's great big band albums One More Once and Essence.

The Jazz Gala is an experience every year, and Michel Camilo joins the list of big international names who, together with the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, have kicked off the jazz party at the Musikhuset. Previously, Marcus Miller, Lisa Ekdahl, Curtis Stigers, Eliane Elias, Caro Emerald, Melody Gardot, Jamie Cullum and David Sanborn have been on stage with the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra.
