Carsten Kær Trio (DK/CU)
Improvisation and Latin American inspiration
Carsten Kær is a versatile pianist and composer, inspired by everything from salsa to Stravinsky.
Improvisation is the keyword, but the strong inspiration from Latin America in particular leaves room for Brazilian bossa novas, Nordic intimacy, Cuban charm, and jazz of all shapes and colours when Carsten Kær Trio performs.
He is supported by a dream rhythm section with the local Cuban super bass player Yasser Pino and the always bustling Morten Ærø on drums. A trio capable of giving challenging and supporting each other in this wide-ranging musical constellation.
The repertoire consists of a beautiful mix of original compositions, jazz standards in new arrangments, and Brazilian and Cuban songs.
