Dynamic Berlin-Based Band

SPK is a brand new constellation created by 23-year-old composer and jazz trumpeter Paolo de Jesus Maido from Aalborg, Denmark. A dynamic band based in the multicultural mecca of Berlin with students from JIB, Jazz-Institut Berlin.

Their music is an enchanting fusion of Nordic jazz influences and the swing tradition that also weaves in elements of the popular RnB and Hiphop sound, which is a vibrant new element in today's jazz. SPK weaves the rhythmic cadence of hip-hop and R&B together with the sophisticated improvisations of jazz, resulting in a groovy tapestry of sound.

SPK bandleader Paolo de Jesus' musical creativity is inspired by contemporary artists such as Frank Ocean, Yussuf Dayes, and Theo Croker among others. With these inspirations, SPK pushes jazz tradition as we know it.
