About Kira Skov
Kira Skov debuted in 2001 with the rock group Kira and The Kindred Spirits. Since her debut, she has established herself as a multi-faceted singer and songwriter, who moves with effortless ease between jazz and rock with a career that spans 15 albums.
Her strong, soulful, and intense vocals have earned her much praise and critical acclaim for her successful tribute to Billie Holiday (2011) and recent collaborations with Peter Peter, Marie Fisker, The Cabin Project, as well as her solo releases produced by star producer John Parish. Kira has also toured the world with the trip-hop star Tricky.
In 2017, she received two DMA Jazz Awards for Composer of the Year and Vocal Release of the Year, as well as a “Steppeulv” for Composer of the Year. 2018 saw the release of her highly acclaimed album The Echo of You dedicated to her late husband Nicolai Munch-Hansen, which also garnered 5 and 6-star reviews in Danish and international media.
Kira Skov followed up in 2019 with her 14th album I nat bliver vi gamle, her first Danish-language album, which has also been lauded in the press.
And when COVID-19 hit the world and sent us all into lockdown and isolation, Kira Skov felt the urge to reach out with her music. The result was the duet album Spirit Tree (2021). In January 2022, she finally toured the country with that album.
