Family Concert with Beauty, Spirituality, and Pulsating Rhythms

Grab the kids and join the KASOLA Trio on a journey around the sun to hot West Africa. We'll fly with the birds and visit the stars, a dreamland and other strange places where anything can happen!

On the journey, we meet Dawda and the amazing kora - a traditional stringed instrument from Gambia that is hundreds of years old. But for Dawda, the kora is new every day!

KASOLA Trio plays original compositions inspired by a blend of jazz and traditional music from West Africa and Scandinavia.

Enjoy a family concert with live music full of beauty, spirituality, and pulsating rhythms.

Katrine Suwalski is a versatile musician and composer. She has created her unique fusion of jazz and West African rhythms. She is known as the leader of the Afro-jazz group Another World, Trommetrolden, co-leader of BonNoir Trio and Rhythm & Wind. As a composer, she is inspired by jazz masters such as Ellington, Mingus, and Abdullah Ibrahim. Her music is now also being recognized in Ghana, where she has been touring regularly since 2015.

Dawda Jobarteh moved from Gambia in 1999 and settled in Denmark. Though Dawda's heritage is firmly rooted in one of West Africa's most famous musical dynasties, he found his place as an international musician through her willingness and desire to work with musicians from different backgrounds and traditions. Dawda sings and plays the kora, a traditional West African harp, but modernizes it through effects loops and amplification. Drawing on his West African and Northern European roots, he manages to create a unique sound of folk music and Afro-jazz from the two very different musical traditions. He is known from collaborations with Stefan Pasborg, New Jungle Orchestra, and many others.

Virtuoso percussionist Ayi Solomon lives in Denmark. Ayi Solomon grew up in Accra, but left Ghana in the early 80s with the reggae band Classic Vibes. Since then, he has forged a great career on the international jazz and world music scene. He plays with Kojo Antwi (GH) in Ghana and has played with musicians such as Randy Brecker, Jerry Bergonzi, and Adam Nussbaum. Ayi Solomon is best known in Denmark for his collaborations with New Jungle Orchestra and Palle Mikkelborg. He co-produced six albums with Katrine Suwalski and plays with her in the groups BonNoir Trio, Another World, Trommetrolden etc.
