Pierre Dørge (g), Morten Carlsen (Taragot; T-sax), Irene Becker (key)
The legendary trio Dørge Becker Carlsen - world-class jazz, Nordic, folk, and world music.
Under the name "Thermænius" they introduced world music to the Danish scene in the 70s.
They have toured Europe, the USA, Canada, Siberia, Greenland, the United Arab Emirates, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands. They have played at major festivals such as Roskilde Festival, Abakan Folk, a jazz festival in the former Soviet Union, Moldova Jazz Festival, as well as smaller venues such as the Knitting Factory in NYC, HotHouse in Chicago, and "Den danske smørrebrøds forretning" in Reykjavik. They have performed with Dan Turell, Ib Michael, Povl Dissing, Hamid Drake, Kirk Knuffke, Marilyn Mazur, and the Tuvan throat singer Sainho Namtchylak.
The trio has a special ability to communicate with the audience in order to create intimacy. From large festival stages, jazz clubs, to intimate concert halls and church auditoriums.
At the concert, you feel this meditative and intense atmosphere - the musicians, the audience, and the space. A musical journey from Carl Nielsen's beautiful hymn ”Det koster ej for megen strid” through Chinese boxes to summer by the North Sea - music by Josquin des Prez, Pierre Dørge, Duke Ellington, and Irene Becker, among others.
"The music has a dreamy beauty and a fragile melodiousness... the musicians have a very close artistic relationship with each other" (Henrik Palle, Politiken).
