Kresten Osgood (d), Julie Kjær (a-sax), Olga Witte (org)
Jazz service with a trio consisting of the extraordinary and influential drummer Kresten Osgood, the avant-garde and intense saxophonist Julie Kjær, and Langenæskirken's own experimental and exuberant organist and composer, Olga Witte. Together, the three will explore and challenge the church space and the Sunday service. Pastor: Simon Kangas Larsen.
Kresten Osgood is an exceptional drummer and improviser who, with the utmost respect for tradition, challenges it at every moment of his creative endeavors. He is one of the most influential musicians on the Danish jazz scene, bringing his exuberant nature to a variety of instruments.
Julie Kjær's raw, edgy, and thoughtful playing and "dark, otherworldly imagery" (Jazzwise) is increasingly being noticed on the European jazz and new music scene. In The Wire, Stewart Smith wrote that she is "...one of the most impressive new voices on the London jazz and improvisation scene".
Olga Witte is known for her unique and experimental organ playing. Olga Witte is a trained soloist and has received Denmark's oldest jazz award, Gaffelprisen: "Olga's commitment, drive, and curiosity have taken both her and jazz far and wide. She is one of today's musicians and organizers who are taking jazz forward.
The music will be based on Olga Witte's compositions, laying the foundation for the three improvising musicians inside the church.
