Martin Fabricius (vib), Olga Witte (k)
Jazz Service with Fabricius / Witte
Vibraphonist Martin Fabricius and pianist Olga Witte will perform hymns and the two musicians' original compositions for this service. Anne Ehlers is the pastor.
Martin Fabricius is a Danish vibraphone player. He graduated Suma Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in 1996. While at Berklee, Martin studied vibraphone with Ed Saindon and multi-Grammy Award winner Gary Burton.
Martin is one of the leading exponents of a new generation of vibraphone players. Building on the legacy of Gary Burton and his pianistic 4-hammer approach, Martin explores the use of electronics, composes new repertoires, and invents new playing techniques to expand the expressive possibilities of his instrument. Martin's music is often described as quiet, evocative Nordic jazz, but Martin has also ventured into the world of free improvisation.
Olga Witte is an award-winning pianist, organist, and composer who explores both her own and other instruments in her compositions. Trained as a church organist, ethnomusicologist, and composer, she often uses all of her skills in her musical expression.
