LilleJazz: Epli (NO/DK)

LilleJazz presents "adult" experimental music for families with children and other interested parties in an inclusive concert space where everyone is welcome. The venue allows for quiet activities during the concert, such as drawing, doing a puzzle, or simply enjoying the music.

LilleJazz with Epli - sound universe for big and small ears

Epli is Tyge Jessen and Oda Dyrnes - a mumbling, stuttering, whispering, and roaring aural creature, or a cello / trumpet duo exploring all aspects of their instruments.

You are invited to a small universe of fluttering butterfly wings, mating calls from bats, ceremonial dance music, rodents talking in their sleep, and sounds bordering on silence. With roots in classical art music, free improvisation, and electronic popular music, the music is at once thoroughly composed and completely open.

In 2023, the duo released the EP Epli with acoustic compositions that explore sound and space. The same material was adapted for chamber ensemble as a commissioned work for KoncertKirken during this year's Vinterjazz. Epli also sometimes processes their acoustic sound through synthesizers and effects pedals, and is currently working on a larger piece dedicated to young listeners.
