Consisting of some of Denmark's most prominent young musicians, Copenhagen's pioneering neo-jazz quintet OTOOTO refers to their innovative blend of jazz tradition and modern indie pop as "homeshake meets jazz messengers".

Their third studio album 2nd Quake will be released on November 8 on April Records. OTOOTO, consisting of Jonas Due (trumpet and flugelhorn), Hannes Bennich (alto saxophone and flute), Calle Brickman (keys), Andreas Svendsen (drums and percussion) and Matthias Petri (bass), have been a fixture on both the Danish and international jazz scenes since their debut in 2021 with the album This Love Is For You.

Their new release marks a new chapter in their journey and reflects a bold, mature artistic vision that promises to cement their place on the Scandinavian contemporary jazz scene. Taking inspiration from everything from 70s rock and European church music to the pioneering sounds of Jean-Michel Jarre and Vangelis, the five musicians, led by trumpeter Jonas Due, describe their sound as "a roaring sea of analog synths and velvety horns".

The album, which features eight carefully composed original tracks, balances powerful, memorable melodies with whimsical orchestration, a continuous sense of groove, dense texture, and fearless lyrical improvisations. A collaboration with electronic producer Sofie Birch, the album is an electro-organic sonic exploration of the union between acoustic instrumental sounds and electronic manipulation, led by the sound of the legendary Juno 106 synth alongside magnificent jazz-inspired musicality.
