Step inside Musikhuset for an epic big band bang when Monday Night Big Band feat. Sinne Eeg takes the stage at Musikhuset Swings and plays music by Thad Jones.

In 2023, trumpeter, arranger, and composer Thad Jones, an icon of big band jazz, would have turned 100 years old. It was also 45 years since Thad Jones / Mel Lewis big band recorded the classic album It Only Happens Every Time with Monica Zetterlund.

It caught the attention of the Malmö-based Monday Night Big Band together with Sinne Eeg in a tribute tour in 2023, and now it's time for Aarhus.

A selection of the arrangements that Thad Jones wrote for Monica Zetterlund for the 1978 recording has been recreated by the Monday Night Big Band to be interpreted with bravura and empathy by the multiple award-winning Sinne Eeg. There is also additional music by Thad Jones and some specially written tributes to him. The band itself is celebrating its 37th anniversary, and founder Jörgen Nilsson would have turned 77 in 2025.

Sinne Eeg tours all over the world and has fans in Europe, the US, and Asia, and has sung at prestigious American jazz clubs such as the Green Mill in Chicago and Birdland in New York. She has performed with American legends such as pianist and organist Larry Goldings and drummer Peter Erskine. She is a four-time winner of the Danish Music Awards Jazz, winner of the French "Prix du Jazz", and has received the "Queen Ingrid Honorary Grant".

The concert with Monday Night Big Band and Sinne Eeg is one of many concerts you can look forward to experiencing at Musikhuset Swings during Aarhus Jazz Festival 2025. Aarhus Jazz Orchestra and Musikhuset invite you to a whole week of jazz.
