Build a Big Jazz Puppet and Help Kick Off this Year's Jazz Festival!

Traditionally we have a parade through the streets of the city to kick off the Aarhus Jazz Festival, but we need you to make it really special. So sign up for the creative parade workshop and spend a couple of hours making an amazing 2.5-meter jazz puppet that a whole family can control! (Psst! A whole family can be two people)

Every year on our grand opening day, we send the festive street parade through the streets of downtown in peak festive New Orleans style. This year, the opening day starts with an amazing musical journey for children with Casper Mikkelsen and his wonderful jazz band in the foyer of the Music House at 10 am. After that, you can take part in En Hemmlig Klub's parade workshop at 11 am, where you can create two-meter tall puppets to take part in the parade. At 1 pm, everyone is welcome to join the parade through the city. The parade starts at Musikhusparken.

En Hemmelig Klub was founded by Annabelle Nielsen and Kenn Munk Nielsen in London in 2009 but has been based in Denmark since 2011. They play with everything they can get their hands on and see playing as an art form. During Aarhus Jazz Festival 2025, they will be doing several workshops in our Kids and Family Jazz program; four jazz playgrounds and a workshop in connection with the street parade on the opening day of the Jazz Festival.
