En Hemmelig Klub, jazzmusikere & film
A unique experience for children and families when Aarhus Jazz Festival in collaboration with Øst For Paradis presents a jazz playground and short music films in the cinema. Come and build the city's best jazz playground together with the jazz-stronauts from En Hemmelig Klub. Instead of putting melodic elements together to make new music, we'll get creative with colored and patterned cardboard shapes that can be moved, rearranged, stacked in new ways, knocked over, and reassembled into something completely new! This workshop will also include some brave musicians who will play a version of what you build. Or maybe you want to build a version of what they play? Can you make the shapes match the music? During this special edition of the Jazz Playground, there will also be the opportunity to watch short musical films on the big screen in the movie theater. You can see the story of Whistleless, the only bird in town who can't whistle. Or the story of Peter Pix, who plays the violin so beautifully that everyone cries and he ends up standing in water up to his ankles. You can also experience Rhino Dance, Spring Festival, or Morning Song, where all the animals gather to make the sun rise through music. En Hemmelig Klub was founded by Annabelle Nielsen and Kenn Munk Nielsen in London in 2009 but has been based in Denmark since 2011. They play with everything they can get their hands on and consider it an art form. During Aarhus Jazz Festival 2025, they will be doing several workshops in our Kids and Family Jazz program; four jazz playgrounds and a workshop in connection with the street parade on the opening day of the festival.
