Jazz for bass and piano
Experience an afternoon concert in the company of pianist Hans Esbjerg and bassist Peter Vuust, who will play songs from the standard repertoire of jazz as well as their own compositions.
Over the years, Hans Esbjerg has performed with the likes KIüvers Big Band, Butch Lacy, Jens Winther, Thomas Fryland, and Roy Willams, and has released the album pop´n’jazz as a solo artist. Together with saxophonist Christian Vuust, he also forms Den Danske Salmeduo (the Danish Hymn Duo), which reinterprets Danish hymns with inspiration from American jazz improvisation. Hans Esbjerg's piano style is extremely lyrical and melodic.
Peter Vuust is a professor at Aarhus University and the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus / Aalborg, head of the Center for Music in the Brain, and is also one of the country's busiest sidemen. He has been featured on more than 90 records, including with several international jazz stars such as Tim Hagans, Mal Waldron, Ted Curson, and Jukkis Uotila. He is known for his groovy and responsive backing and extremely melodic solo playing. As a composer and bassist, he has released six albums, most recently the CD Leaves of Love featuring Lars Jansson (p), Veronica Mortensen (voc), and Peter Asplund (trp).
