Joshua Redman is a universally recognized jazz artist. Back in 1991 he won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone competition that really boosted his career, first as sideman on Choices with his sax-playing father Dewey Redman, followed by two fine albums in his own name. From 2004-07 he led San Francisco's SFJAZZ Collective, an artist's workshop dedicated to new music. This year he released his 12th album, Compass.
