Hot jazz for all Functions

A concert with Arosia is probably the closest you can get to reliving the good times in Boblen or Fodvarmeriet.

This year, the tent has been replaced by the beautiful venue Waxies, a stone's throw from Telefontorvet. So there's no excuse not to show up when the city's oldest jazz band once again convenes for a jazz ball.

To put this band in perspective, in the early sixties a group of young Aarhusians played the hottest jazz of the day on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg, in fierce competition with four other youngsters from Liverpool. Arosia is still here, while The Beatles gave up many years ago. Since then, Arosia has become a septet again, with John Fuglsang stepping in on banjo and vocals.

The willingness to deliver "Hot jazz for all Functions" means that in 2022, we're pleased to present The Aarhusian City Jazz Band during Aarhus Jazz Festival.

Over the years, there has been a turnover in almost every position, but the basic product is still upbeat high-quality jazz – since 1958 under the leadership of trombone wrangler Botha Christensen.
