Two Saxophonists Inspired by the Great Tenor Duos of Jazz
Swingin' Tenors consists of the two saxophonists Mads Lundh and Rasmus Kirkholt along with a band. The group is inspired by the raw swing and power of iconic tenor duos such as Rollins and Stitt, and Johnny Griffin and Eddie Lockjaw, from which parts of the repertoire also originate.
After two years at Skurups Folkhögskola, the two frontmen have been able to refine their individual musical style at the crossroads of tradition and 21st-century jazz.
The concert will consist of timeless classics and new compositions drawn from swing and hard-bop traditions – all rooted in joy and curiosity.
The band consists of young musicians from Denmark and Sweden who met at the Swedish folk high school Skurups Folkhögskola, where they studied jazz together.
