The blue side of James Loveless

For many years, jazz singer James Loveless has been the dynamic front figure of the award-winning blues band Shades of Blue. He still is, but he also has a deep love for the lyrics and melodies that have been interpreted by the great trendsetters of jazz over the years.

The time has come to live this love, and now, in 2020, a new and interesting constellation is making its way onto the music scene: Loveless Blue Jazz Quintet. A band that includes some of Danish music's most competent and versatile musicians.

The repertoire consists of well-known and lesser-known jazz standards, spirituals, and gospel played with an unmistakable blue tone and outgoing energy that reflects the musicians' backgrounds.

In addition to the lead, the band consists of saxophonist Niels Mathiasen, who has been featured as a session musician on numerous released over the past 30 years and has toured with the likes of Gnags, Poul Krebs and the award-winning Grarup All Stars.

Pianist Kristian Fogh is a regular member of the Mike Andersen band and Lars Lilholt Band and, in 2019, released a CD with his own jazz-inspired compositions.

For many years, double bass player Jørgen Nielsen has been an active participant on the Danish rock, jazz, and blues scenes as a member of Frimer Band, Bourbon Street Jazz Band, River Jazz & Blues Band, and others.

And finally, we have Jens Kristian Dam behind the drum kit, a regular member of the Mike Andersen Band and HP Lange's orchestra.

A great evening with vivid interpretations of great classics awaits, delivered by a seasoned band.

The concerts in Helsingør Theater, The Old Town, are performed according to the regulations of the authorities and with a distance between the audience. Therefore, there will be fewer seats than usual. Book your ticket in advance to secure a seat.
